ORWELL
Orwell, the most southern town in Addison County, is a great little town. Buxton’s Store, a staple for many in this town, is famous for excellent cuts of meat and outstanding customer service. Orwell is also home to the historic Mount Independence, the site of extensive fortifications built during the American Revolutionary War and situated on Lake Champlain. Orwell is known as the Fortress of America. The town motto is 'First in Revolution, First in Recreation'.
